Karen L. Zar, O.D.
Karen L. Zar, O.D., is a graduate of the Rand Afrikaans University in Johannesburg South Africa where she received her Bachelors degree in Optometry with honors in Low Vision and Ocular Pathology.
After graduating Dr. Zar worked as a licensed optometrist focusing on contact lens fitting within a general practice. Dr. Zar pursued a Certificate of Advanced Study in Ocular Disease and Pharmacology from New England College of Optometry.
Upon relocation to the United States, Dr. Zar obtained her Optometric Doctorate at the New England College of Optometry , where she obtained he clinical training at the Veterans Administration (VA) Hospitals of Greater Boston and other Community Health Centers. She graduated with the highest GPA in her class. Dr Zar is a recipient of the New England College of Optometry Scholastic Achievement Award in the Advanced Standing International Program. She has been licensed to practice in Massachusetts since 2004.
Dr Zar has experience in all types of contact lens fits and enjoys the challenges that irregular corneas pose in terms of vision rehabilitation.
